The launch ceremony of the project to localize the production of medicines against breast cancer took place on October 25 in Almaty. The production will be carried out at the Almaty Pharmaceutical Factory jointly with the international companies Roche and Nobel. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The opening ceremony of the enterprise was attended by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akmaral Alnazarova.
As the ministry noted, localization of production of critically important oncological drugs "should improve access of Kazakhstani patients to innovative methods of cancer treatment." And also "allow for an increase in life expectancy."
"The head of state set the task of increasing the share of domestic production of medicines and medical products to 50% of the total pharmaceutical market. And the implementation of the National Development Plan for the country until 2029 provides for measures to expand cooperation with global pharmaceutical corporations," the ministry emphasized.
Attracting investments, technology transfer and the latest developments in localization of production should reduce "dependence on imported drugs". This will also allow "reducing their cost" and making them "more accessible to patients", the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan is confident.
Earlier, we wrote that in Kazakhstan, as in many other countries, breast cancer remains the main cause of female mortality from oncological diseases. About 5 thousand cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in Kazakhstani women every year – and more than a thousand women eventually die. At the same time, the success rate of treatment for patients whose cancer was detected at an early stage reaches 95%.
