Former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Marat Kozhaev commented on the case of a schoolgirl from Kyzylorda, who was kept in sexual slavery by her classmates for six months. In his opinion, the public outcry encourages law enforcement officers to be more thorough in their procedural assessment of evidence, but even without this, the case would have been thoroughly studied. He is quoted by Informburo.
"I am an investigator with 30 years of experience, and I remember quite a lot of such incidents. And without public resonance, fair decisions and sentences were made. And the people who committed such crimes were held accountable. We have quite a large number of criminals in our places of detention who were "sentenced" without public resonance," Kozhayev noted on the sidelines of the Senate.
The case will be heard behind closed doors to protect the interests of the minor, he added.
"The public does not have such fear (that the innocent will be held accountable. – editor's note ). It is you, the information resources, who are stirring up the situation. I think that the overwhelming majority of our population trusts the legal system of Kazakhstan," the senator is convinced.
Kozhaev noted that law enforcement agencies responded as soon as they received the information.
Earlier, law enforcement agencies reported that 11 suspects had been detained in the case. Five of them were minors.
Recall that in Kyzylorda, schoolchildren are suspected of holding their classmate in sexual slavery. As reported by Ne Molchi KZ, a group of teenagers forcibly held a 16-year-old girl, gave her drugs and forced her to engage in prostitution. Moreover, as the foundation stated, the school principal, teachers, and local police officer knew about this, but did not take any measures.
The press service of the regional police department reported that the suspects were detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. The police did not disclose any details of the case.
Children's ombudsman Dinara Zakieva said that the investigation is under her control.
