The Mangistau Region Prosecutor's Office has filed an appeal against the court's verdict on the fact of the girl's suicide in Aktau. This was reported by the supervisory authority, reports "Informburo".
"On December 19, 2024, the specialized inter-district criminal court of the Mangistau region sentenced the main defendant to 20 years, and his four accomplices to 7 to 8.5 years of imprisonment for a combination of crimes committed against the victim. In turn, the prosecutor in his debate requested that the main defendant be sentenced to life imprisonment, and the other participants to 15 to 16 years of imprisonment," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
On January 5, 2025, the regional prosecutor, due to disagreement with the court's verdict in terms of the qualification and amount of punishment, filed a motion in accordance with the position set out in the judicial debate.
The case is still in court.
Let us recall that in May 2024, a girl jumped out of a window of a multi-story building. The deceased worked as a fitness trainer in one of the gyms in Aktau. A couple of days before that, she was attacked by five men. The NeMolchiKZ foundation shared the details of this tragedy. The activists drew attention to the fact that the judge reclassified the charges during the trial, which is why four of the five criminals may be released on parole in 3-4 years.
