Fines for using pyrotechnics in populated areas and in places not designated for this purpose have been provided for in Kazakhstan since 2001. However, there is no special list of designated places – these are simply free areas. This is reported by Krysha, citing the Department of Emergency Situations and the Almaty police.
According to the police, the use of pyrotechnics in populated areas and in places not designated for this purpose, disturbing the peace of people, entails a fine of 73.8 thousand tenge (20 MCI) with confiscation of pyrotechnics (Article 436 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan).
For disturbing the peace (from 10:00 pm to 9:00 am on weekdays and from 11:00 pm to 10:00 am on weekends and holidays) a fine of 18.5 thousand tenge is provided (Article 437 of the Code of Administrative Offences).
If police officers catch children under 16 with fireworks/firecrackers, the parents will be fined.
Where you can launch fireworks – the rules apply in all cities and towns of the Republic of Kazakhstan
- On vacant lots.
- The distance from residential buildings to the fireworks launch site must be at least 50 meters.
- There should be no trees, power lines or other obstacles that could cause the fireworks to change direction.
- The site must be cleared of flammable and fire-prone objects.
Forbidden
- Fireworks and salutes are prohibited for children under 16 years of age.
- It is prohibited to direct fireworks/firecrackers at people and animals, as well as towards houses and buildings, balconies and windows, or throw them underfoot.
- It is prohibited to launch fireworks from balconies and windows, as well as indoors.
- Do not lean over the product when starting it.
- Do not launch fireworks in strong winds or launch them repeatedly.
It is noted that over the past five years, there have been 57 fires in Almaty, and pyrotechnics were the cause of 11 of them. In 2023, 13 people were injured, including three children. The most common injuries are burns to the eyes, head, hands, and finger damage.
