An earthquake occurred in Tajikistan, the epicenter of which was located 712 kilometers from Almaty. Residents of the city did not feel the tremors. This was reported by the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research (NSCSR).
"On December 15, 2024, at 01:42 Astana time, the network of seismic stations of the National Scientific Center for Seismic Research under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan recorded an earthquake. The epicenter was located in Tajikistan, 712 kilometers southwest of Almaty," the report says.
The source was located at a depth of 180 kilometers. The energy class of the event was 10.4, and the magnitude reached 5.1 on the MPV scale.
According to seismologists, the earthquake was not felt in Kazakhstan.
