Father of murdered Sherzat Bolat detained by police

Karzhaubay Nurymov, the father of murdered teenager Sherzat Bolat, was detained by police after demanding a meeting with the media, KazTAG reports .

"On December 10 at 15:30 in the village of Azat during a funeral procession an incident occurred that threatened public order and the safety of those around him. Nurymov, ignoring the prosecutor's explanations about observing the law, began to behave extremely aggressively, made threats to those around him, threatened to commit suicide, and also attacked a police officer with a knife. His behavior was inappropriate and posed a threat to himself and those around him. At the request of Nurymov's relatives and lawyers, in order to prevent harm to his life and the lives of those around him, police officers took measures to detain him," the press service of the Almaty Region Police Department reported .

According to the police, "Nurymov was detained using the minimum necessary force." "He was taken to the police station, where psychologists are working with him," the police added.

Earlier, the father of the murdered teenager Sherzat Bolat demanded a meeting with the media. Social activist Dinmukhamed Kamatai reported that Nurymov is seeking an honest investigation into the circumstances of the death of his son and younger brother.
