The Committee for the Protection of Consumer Rights of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan published shocking results of a large-scale study of Kazakhstani products. According to it, Kazakhstanis risk their health every day by consuming products that do not meet quality standards.
The research "Sapaly Onim" was conducted on the instructions of the president. And the results revealed alarming facts: more than 60% of products do not comply with established standards, which means that every second product on the shelves may pose a health hazard.
As part of the project, public organizations tested 1,423 samples of food products and household chemicals in different regions of the country. The results were disappointing:
- Labeling: 83% of products did not have correct information about the composition, manufacturer or expiration date;
- Sanitary standards: 17% of samples contained harmful substances or bacteria;
- Administrative liability: 224 business entities were brought to administrative liability for identified violations.
- Ban on sales: Declarations of conformity have been cancelled or suspended for 43 types of products, which means a ban on their sale on the territory of Kazakhstan.
What else is known
The Committee reports that dairy products have caused particular concern. Excess preservatives were found in 70% of yoghurt and kefir samples, which is especially dangerous for children and people with allergies.
The results of "Sapaly Onim" confirm that the problem of food quality in Kazakhstan is systemic. Experts warn that consumption of low-quality products threatens food poisoning, allergies and chronic diseases. Children and the elderly are at risk.
The Committee also called on Kazakhstanis not to remain silent when such products are discovered, but to report them to the appropriate authorities.
