Two years ago, a qualified physiotherapist and experienced masseuse, Aleksandra Kasperek, opened a professional hug salon in the city of Katowice (Poland), reports Goryashchaya Izba.
The place has become popular with people suffering from loneliness or who have experienced trauma. Alexandra even created a waiting list for clients. According to her, most of the people who come to her are between the ages of 40 and 60. And most often, these are those who have experienced physical or emotional abuse. This therapy makes them feel needed and helps them understand that touch can be pleasant, not just painful.
The price of a half-hour hug session is 99 zlotys (around 12,600 tenge or $24 at the current exchange rate). But before the session begins, clients are asked the reasons for their visit in order to tailor the service to the individual needs of the person. The specialist asks the client if he has any illnesses, checks for signs of alcohol or drug intoxication and lets him familiarize himself with the rules of the salon. After that, the person goes to take a shower and change into a robe. The session takes place in a room with many pillows and soft toys, music playing in the background, a fireplace and drinks.
The rules state that any actions of a sexualized nature are not allowed. If the client violates the rules, he is asked to leave.
