A snow melting point has been opened in Almaty — the facility was built on the basis of the Almaty Tazalyk State Enterprise, where anti-icing reagents were previously stored. Thus, as reported by the press service of the city administration, the city has used environmentally friendly melting technology and effective snow disposal.
How does this work
To melt snow, the heat of wastewater coming through the city sewer network is used. Warm water under pressure passes through a system of pumping units and pipelines, dissolving the snow. Then the melt water is cleaned of sand and debris, after which it goes into the sewer system. The capacity of the installation is up to 1.2 thousand cubic meters of snow per day.
The snow melting point takes snow from the Auezovsky, Almalinsky and Bostandyksky districts, where the snow removal issue is most acute, and traffic does not allow for effective snow removal from central streets. The Akimat emphasizes that such a solution allows for a significant reduction in the time and resources spent on snow removal outside the city, as well as a reduction in the negative impact on the environment.
