Experts from Brazil's Air Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (Cenipa) have begun decoding the data from the black boxes of the Embraer 190 aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines, which crashed on December 25 near Aktau. Specialists from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Russia have also joined the case, the news agency AgenciaBrasil reports .
The black boxes contain vital data and voice recordings made during the flight, which are needed to determine the cause of the accident.
According to a press release from the Brazilian Air Force, the extraction, collection and verification of data from the flight recorders (black boxes) will be carried out as soon as possible. The analysis is being carried out in the Cenipa Flight Recorder Readout and Analysis Laboratory. The findings published in the final report will be forwarded to the authorities of Kazakhstan, the state leading the investigation into the crash in accordance with the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) Convention.
Kazakhstan sends black boxes to Brazil
On December 29, it became known that Kazakhstan would send the flight recorders (black boxes) of the plane that crashed near Aktau to the Brazilian Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aviation Accidents (Cenipa). On December 30, it was reported that the commission investigating the aviation accident had flown to Brazil along with the black boxes.

A preliminary report on the plane crash will be made public by the end of January, Kursiv reports , citing the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is noted that the final conclusions are planned to be prepared in 2025.
"The investigation of the aviation accident continues with the participation of international experts. The preliminary report, in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Annex 13 of ICAO, will be published 30 days after the incident. The commission plans to complete the investigation within 12 months," the statement said.
The ministry added that the maximum investigation period could be 36 months (three years). However, experts believe that the investigation will establish the causes of the crash within 12 months, that is, by the end of 2025.
Recall that on December 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed near Aktau. There were 67 people on board (citizens of Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan), including five crew members. 29 people survived. All Kazakhs died.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said the plane was shot at from the ground in the skies over Russia and "brought into an uncontrollable state by electronic warfare." Aliyev also said that "the final version will be known after the black boxes are opened, but the initial versions are well-founded and based on facts." "And the facts are that the Azerbaijani civilian plane was damaged from outside on Russian territory, near the city of Grozny, and practically lost control. We also know that our plane was rendered uncontrollable by electronic warfare," Aliyev said.
