Kazakhstan agency BrandForma wins gold in international design competition Pentawards

Kazakhstan agency BrandForma won gold in the international design and packaging competition Pentawards in London. The agency presented the contraceptive brand "OT". Thus, Kazakhstan became the first country in Central Asia to receive a gold award for the first time in the 17 years of the competition.

In 2024, more than 2,000 works from 62 countries from the largest branding agencies and corporations P&G, Mars, Unilever, Coca-Cola and many others were submitted to Pentawards. The BrandForma agency submitted its own brand of contraceptives called "OT", and became the first in Central Asia to receive gold for the first time in the 17 years of the competition.

More than 50 jury members and professionals from companies such as Coca-Cola, Unilever, Estee Lauder, Ellen MacArthur Foundation, WWF from 20 countries evaluated the projects according to four main criteria: design quality, brand expression, creativity and innovation, emotional connection. The Kazakhstani brand "OT" scored high on all parameters and especially in innovation and emotional connection.

"In the 17 years of the competition's existence, not a single agency in Central Asia has won gold. BrandForma was the first, not only making it onto the list of winners, but also receiving a People's Choice Awards nomination, where 12 works out of 700 were selected. The award ceremony was held in London," BrandForma clarified.

About the Pentawards Competition

Pentawards is an international design and packaging competition; it is like the Oscars of the branding world. It appeared in 2007 and was founded by Jean J. Evrard and Brigitte Evrard. The competition has a significant influence on the industry – it determines the packaging and design trends of the future. Every year, the Pentawards attracts leading world corporations, such as Coca-Cola, P&G, Unilever, Nestle and PepsiCo.

About the brand "OT"

The main idea of "OT" is to be a symbol of conscious and harmonious relationships between a couple, promoting the principles of equality and mutual understanding in the intimate sphere. From the Kazakh language, "OT" is translated as "fire" – this is a play on words referring to the feeling of passion. The letter "O" represents a woman, and the letter "T" – a man. The metaphor is reflected in the packaging, in the plasticity of the symbols and in their dynamism.

Contraceptives are created using new polymer technology, and the main component is polyurethane, which is of high quality, but less common than latex products.
