In Afghanistan, it has been banned to build windows in residential buildings that overlook "places that women usually visit." Existing windows with such views will be blocked to prevent "indecent acts." This is stated in a decree by Taliban Supreme Leader Haibatullah Akhundzada, Radio Liberty reports .
New buildings should not have windows through which one can see “the yard, kitchen, neighbor’s well and other places usually frequented by women.”
If such windows are present, owners will be asked to build a wall or block the view "to avoid inconvenience to neighbors," the decree says.
Municipal authorities and other relevant departments will monitor construction sites to ensure that it is not possible to peer into neighbors' homes.
