The suspects in the arson of the family home of the murdered teenager Sherzat Polat in Talgar have not yet been identified or caught. This was reported by the Pre-Trial Investigation Department of the Almaty Region Prosecutor's Office in response to a request from The Village Kazakhstan.
The Department recalled that a criminal case was opened on the fact of a fire in a residential building located at the address: Almaty region, Enbekshikazakh district, Azat village, Tabachnaya street, house No. 36, owned by Nurumov K.P., the father of the murdered minor Sherzat Polat Karzhaubayuly. The case is under investigation.
“This fact was registered under the signs of a criminal offense provided for in Article 202, Part 3, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan – “Intentional destruction or damage to property by arson resulting in particularly large-scale damage,” the response states.
The pre-trial investigation established that the cause of the fire was physical intervention using flammable liquids. This is confirmed by the fire-technical examination, the Almaty Region Prosecutor's Office added.
"To date, the criminal prosecution agency has conducted a number of investigative and operational measures and forensic examinations. The suspect in the case has not yet been identified. All necessary measures are being taken to solve the crime," the statement said.
Earlier it was reported that the fire in the home of the family of the deceased teenager Sherzat Polat in Talgar was caused by an external fire source.
On October 15, 2024, at a press conference at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, they talked about the burned-down house of the Sherzat Polat family. It was reported then that the investigation had no suspects in the arson of the house.
"Important evidence was collected at the scene of the fire, more than 600 people were questioned, and several examinations were ordered. The fire started outside the house. An external source of fire was probably used. The canister and gloves are currently being examined. We are conducting the case openly and transparently. The family of the victims has been placed under 24-hour protection," said Berik Adamov, the prosecutor of the Almaty region.
On December 13, the Almaty Region Prosecutor's Office reported that the pre-trial investigation into the murder of teenager Sherzat Polat was at the completion stage, all necessary investigative actions had been carried out and all suspects had been detained.
