Increase in total pension by 27%
As part of the same message, Tokayev instructed to gradually increase the minimum base pension rate to 70% of the subsistence minimum, and the maximum to 120%. He noted that this would increase the total pension by 27% by 2025.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection is already implementing this order.
— In implementation of the instruction of the Head of State, voiced in the Address to the people of Kazakhstan on September 1, 2022, in the period up to 2027, the minimum basic pension will be gradually increased to 70% of the subsistence minimum, the maximum basic pension — to 120%, respectively. (…) According to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the Republican Budget for 2025-2027", the amount of pension payments by age and for length of service from January 1, 2025 is planned to increase by 8.5% of the received amount, the amount of the basic pension will be increased in connection with the change in the subsistence minimum, that is, by 6.5%, — the department reported.
It should be noted that the Ministry did not give a direct answer to the question of how much the total pension had increased by the end of 2024. Thus, it is impossible to say for sure whether this instruction of the President was fulfilled or not.
