The defendant, who escaped from escort in Almaty on December 4, was detained in the Almaty region. This was reported by the press service of the city police department, Zakon.kz reports .
"During the course of operational and investigative activities, the Almaty criminal police officers detained a wanted citizen, K. E. Aubakri, on the territory of the Almaty region, who escaped from the escort vehicle," the police reported.
The department added that a pre-trial investigation is being conducted into the escape.
The man was searched for almost three weeks. When he escaped, the police released his name and description. The 28-year-old suspect was convicted of theft of someone else's property. The police added that those responsible for allowing the defendant to escape will be held accountable.
