The national company “KazAvtoZhol” strongly advises drivers planning to travel on state roads in Kazakhstan to observe enhanced safety measures due to the expected sharp deterioration in weather conditions in several regionsl.
On October 11, in Astana, as well as in the Kostanay, Akmola and Pavlodar regions, significant precipitation in the form of rain with wet snow is forecast.
Meteorologists warn of a storm signal in these areas and predict severe weather conditions, which will be accompanied by strong north-east winds with gusts of up to 17-22 m/s. In particular, ice is predicted in the Pavlodar region, and fog in the Kostanay region, which can significantly complicate travel on the roads.
Kazhydromet also reports that heavy precipitation will dominate the capital throughout the day, turning into snow by the end of the day. The air temperature is expected to drop rapidly from 8-10 degrees Celsius during the day to 2-4 degrees below zero at night on October 12. A snowstorm is also forecast for the next day, October 12, which could complicate the situation on the roads.
In connection with such an unfavorable forecast, KazAvtoZhol strongly advises drivers to take into account the worsened road conditions and strictly follow safety rules, avoid unnecessary trips in the specified areas, postpone the trip if necessary or use public transport. Checking the condition of the vehicle, especially the braking system, and having the necessary supplies in case of an emergency stop should also not be ignored.
For additional safety, residents and visitors of the regions affected by the cyclone are advised to follow operational information and warnings on the official information channels of KazAvtoZhol and forecasts of Kazhydromet.
