Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova commented on the attack on an ambulance worker in Kostanay. She emphasized that the ministry, together with deputies, is already working on developing measures to toughen penalties, including introducing criminal liability for violence against medical workers.
"We have once again encountered an outrageous attack on paramedics of the Ambulance Brigade in Kostanay. The young employee of the emergency service, Anel Baimurzina, who arrived at the call, ended up in the hospital with multiple injuries as a result of beatings," Alnazarova said.
The head of the Ministry of Health wished Anel Baimurzina's family a speedy recovery and noted that the case will not go unnoticed.
"According to local executive bodies, 158 medical workers were injured in the line of duty in Kazakhstan from 2019 to 2023. Of these, 46 were injured in 2022, 80 in 2023, and nine cases of attacks were recorded in 2024. In this regard, with the support of deputies, we initiated the introduction of criminal liability for violent acts against medical workers committed in the line of duty. Such crimes should receive a fair punishment, up to and including restriction of freedom and censure of the entire society," the minister concluded.
