In Ust-Kamenogorsk, the problem of traffic congestion on the approaches to the Irtysh Bridge is being solved. The city plans to build two large transport interchanges — more than five billion tenge from the 2025 budget will be allocated for the construction, Kazinform reports .
Plans to improve the city's road infrastructure were approved at a session of the regional maslikhat. The project envisages the construction of interchanges on both sides of the Irtysh Bridge, which plays a strategic role in the transport system of Ust-Kamenogorsk.
"The first object will appear at the intersection of Satpayev Avenue and Zhibek Zholy Street. The second will unite Pobedy Avenue, Slavsky Embankment and Permitin Street. Work on the second project had already begun, but was suspended due to a lack of funding," the regional center's akimat reported.
The project is aimed at improving the transport situation in the city. The interchanges will relieve the load on key sections of roads where traffic jams often occur and reduce travel time for motorists and public transport.
Construction of the facilities will begin in 2025.
