The body of Nurkanat Gaiypbayev, the uncle of teenager Sherzat Bolat who died in early October, was found on the outskirts of Talgar. This was reported by the Almaty Region police. Law enforcement officials said that the man committed suicide.
"The body of a 30-year-old man was found near the city of Talgar. According to preliminary data, he committed suicide by hanging. It was established that the deceased was the uncle of the minor Sherzat Bolat, who died tragically on October 4 of this year," the police noted.
The police said they had already opened a criminal case, but had not yet established any signs of a criminal nature. According to them, the family of the deceased teenager had been under guard the entire time and no threats had been recorded against them. According to the police officers who were guarding the scene, the deceased man left the guarded facility at 11:30 p.m. and drove away in his personal car. Other circumstances of the case are not subject to disclosure at this time.
The human rights group working on Sherzat's case said lawyers for the teenager's family had already left for Talgar. They promised to keep the public informed of developments.
Let us recall that 16-year-old Sherzat was killed on the night of October 4 as a result of a conflict that arose in a grocery store. Seven people were initially detained on suspicion of murder, but later the number increased to 10.
The relatives of the deceased said that the conflict took place in their store: the man was buying beer and had an argument with the teenager's father. A conflict ensued, during which the buyer called for "backup" by phone. Then a fight took place, in which Sherzat died. A few days after the murder, his family's house was set on fire. The police began an investigation, and the family of the deceased was taken under guard.
The Prosecutor General's Office then stated that its director had taken the case under personal control and promised to find the culprits.
