In the city of Kosshi in Akmola Region, employees of the catching service shot dogs and piled their bodies near a local school. Political scientist Syrym Itkulov spoke about the situation. He noted that both street dogs and domestic dogs with collars, including puppies, were shot, as well as pets that accompanied children to school and waited for them after lessons.
“Among them are both domestic dogs and our national pride – Tazy,” added Itkulov.
Residents of Kossha complained about the actions of the catching service employees.
"Why don't contractors who win tenders catch dogs to check their owners? Why do they kill them right away, even if the animal is wearing a collar?" local residents are indignant.
Citizens are calling for animals not to be allowed to roam freely, to be sterilized and monitored to avoid tragedies. People are also demanding a thorough investigation and punishment for those responsible.
According to social media users, more than 50 dogs were killed.

Let us recall that in Kazakhstan there is a law prohibiting the shooting of dogs
"In March 2022, a law on responsible treatment of animals came into force in Kazakhstan, according to which it is prohibited to regulate the number of stray animals by killing them. Now the task of catching animals is not just to remove them from the street, but to examine them, vaccinate them, sterilize them, chip them and release them to their previous habitats," Informburo quotes .
