The NeMolchiKZ Foundation has reached out to Kazakhstanis in connection with a possible closure – volunteers have reported that all their cards have been blocked, even in Georgia and Montenegro, and they are asking for help in finding sponsors.
"It's been a year since we started working despite illegal persecution by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. All the cards of the fund are blocked today. We have no access to PayPal. The cards of Kazakhstan and Georgia are blocked. Since November, the cards of Montenegro have been blocked," the statement says.
The activists shared their work for 2024:
- They received more than 20 thousand requests and provided free consultations on the hotline.
- Over 1,500 cases were transferred to the Unit for the Protection of Women from Violence (UPV) and processed jointly.
- 41 criminals were convicted of particularly serious crimes, 32 of whom were convicted of murder and rape of children and women.
"We have barely survived this year, but we can't do it anymore. We are turning to patrons and sponsors: it is important to finance our activities. We ask for your support and assistance. The fund's budget is five million tenge per month. The fund is looking for patrons who will help provide the budget, at least for a few months. The amount is feasible, but if we cannot ensure the work, the fund will have to close," NeMolchiKZ reported.
