The delegation of Kazakhstan took part in the meeting of the Cooperation Council between the EU and Kazakhstan, which was held in Luxembourg, the press service of the Ministry of Transport reports .
During the event, the initialing of the text of the Agreement between the Government of Kazakhstan and the European Union on some aspects of air transportation took place. The Ministry of Transport noted that this procedure is the final step in preparing the Agreement for signing and will further serve as the legal basis for all EU countries in opening direct flights to Kazakhstan.
From the Kazakh side, the Chairman of the State Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport Saltanat Tompieva. From the European side, the International Aviation Policy Officer of the Directorate of Transport and Mobility Brian Simon.
Currently, direct flights are established with Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and the Czech Republic. 34 flights are operated per week by two Kazakhstani and three European airlines. Flights to Greece are added in the summer season. In the future, Kazakhstan plans to expand its route network by adding flights to cities such as Budapest, Riga, Vienna and Munich.
