According to the Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Pavlodar Region, 11 cases of child rape were identified in special institutions in the region, Informburo reports .
Ombudsman Saule Shakeneva met with the senior assistant to the regional prosecutor to discuss crimes against the sexual integrity of minors identified in November.
"During a full medical examination by specialists of 105 girls from orphanages and child support centers in the Pavlodar region aged 10 to 16, 11 cases of violation of sexual integrity were identified. Of these, 8 cases have now been registered, and a pre-trial investigation is underway. The suspects have been identified and detained," Shakeneva wrote.
Three more cases are being checked for the presence of elements of a criminal offense. Also, two cases of sexualized violence against children in foster families were identified. The Ombudsman noted that all crimes were committed several years ago.
