In Almaty, a dozen eggs are sold for an average of 600 tenge. In Shymkent – 530 tenge, in Aktau – 569 tenge, and in Taraz – 483 tenge. In Magnum and Small stores in Astana, category C1 eggs are sold for 510-540 tenge per dozen.
Since the beginning of 2024, 197 cases of unjustified price increases for eggs have been recorded, and 762 trade entities have been fined.
What determines the price of eggs
Mainly from product deliveries, the trade committee noted.
"The price of the products depends on many factors, such as deliveries from small wholesalers to local stores and large wholesale deliveries from poultry farms to markets. Large retail chains enter into long-term contracts with producers," the department explained.
The committee noted that in order to prevent an unjustified increase in egg prices in 2024, a memorandum was signed with the Association of Egg Producers, which sets the maximum selling price of eggs from producers at 51.5 tenge per piece from the factory warehouse.
In Kazakhstan, three categories of eggs are sold: C0, C1 and C2, which differ in weight. Only eggs of the first category are included in the list of socially significant food products and are in high demand.
