According to the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, the call was received at their control panel on the afternoon of November 22. A 16-year-old boy who had climbed into the mountains asked for help in descending.
"He climbed Bukreev Peak, located at an altitude of 3,100 meters above sea level, and was unable to descend on his own. The Emergencies Ministry staff kept in touch with him the entire time. The teenager was alone in the mountainous area," the department's press service wrote.
At first, the rescuers determined the direction of the boy's ascent, and then surveyed the area. After finding the teenager, they brought him down the mountain and delivered him to Almaty. There, the young man's relatives were waiting for him. He was given all the necessary assistance, the department notes.
In the video, the boy thanks the rescuers for arriving quickly and helping him get home. According to him, he was "suffering from hunger and cold."
The Ministry of Emergency Situations also reminded about the risks of such ascents and warned that they require “strict adherence to safety rules.”
Earlier, a tourist was rescued in the Zailiyskiy Alatau mountains. During a hike in the Kaskelen Gorge, one of the travelers fell ill. Since there was no connection and the group included an elderly woman and children, the group leader had to leave the girl, who could not walk on her own, to go down and call the Ministry of Emergency Situations rescuers for help.
