From 2022 to October 2024, 6,665 Russian citizens received Kazakhstan citizenship, of which 2,199 were Kandasy. This was reported by Vlast with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.
According to the department, in 2022, 1,436 Russian citizens received citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including 484 Kandases; in 2023 – 3,505, including 1,303 Kandases; in 10 months of 2024 – 1,724, including 412 Kandases.
“According to data as of November 1, 2024, 90,530 Russian citizens permanently reside in the country, including 10,318 ethnic Kazakhs,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

The KNB Border Service reminds that in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, having a second citizenship is punishable by a fine of up to 200 MCI or administrative deportation.

In the first half of 2024, there were 37,272 working Russians in Kazakhstan. The number of working citizens of the Russian Federation in 2023 was 66,092. The data was provided by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. They noted that citizens of the Russian Federation work in various sectors of the economy, most of which is the service sector, industry, construction, and agriculture.
The department also emphasized that highly qualified foreign specialists close the deficit of professions in the market and ensure a competitive economy and provide "knowledge import". At the same time, as the Ministry of Labor assured, in order to protect the domestic market, there are quotas for attracting foreign labor and issuing work permits.
