The number of employees of guardianship authorities will increase several times in Kazakhstan. This was reported by children's ombudsman Dinara Zakieva. The corresponding amendment to the regulations was supported by the government. Currently, there are only 300 of them for 6.8 million children in the country. The document states that now at least one guardianship worker is needed for every five thousand children.
"For example, in Shymkent there are currently five employees for half a million children, and there will be 90, in accordance with the number of children in the region. This will strengthen the entire system for protecting children's rights, will allow for timely response, and the performance of functions for protection and prevention, so that the system works to prevent, and not to deal with the consequences," Zakieva wrote.
She also added that increasing the number of employees of guardianship authorities “will allow for a timely response, travel to sites and fully perform functions to protect the rights of the child.”
With the support of the akimats, the issue of increasing the salaries of guardianship employees by 50% has been worked out. Training is also provided.
Work on the issue of legislatively enshrining the standards of guardianship authorities has been underway for almost a year.
