Four children died in a fire in a two-story house in Astana, the city's Department of Emergency Situations reported .
“Early this morning in Astana, a roof fire broke out in a private two-story residential building, causing a partial collapse,” the report says.
Rescuers arrived six minutes after the call was received and discovered an open fire.
"The fire was localized and completely extinguished over a preliminary area of 500 square meters. As a result of the fire, four children born in 2011, 2015, 2021 and 2022 died," the Department of Emergency Situations reported.
The city administration said that they would provide assistance to the families living in the house.
"The family where there are victims is receiving psychological assistance. They will also be provided with material, housing and other necessary assistance," the city administration said in a statement.
The causes are being established. A forensic medical examination has been ordered. A fire research laboratory is working at the scene.
