In Kostanay region, a court sentenced a man for using violence against government officials, Informburo reports . The man ran over two law enforcement officers with his car.
“The defendant, obstructing the demands of two patrol police officers, intentionally ran over them with his car, causing them bodily harm,” the court’s press service commented .
The prosecutor requested a six-year prison sentence. The defendant pleaded not guilty, claiming that he had acted thoughtlessly.
The man was sentenced to four years of restricted freedom. He was also ordered to pay half a million tenge in compensation to each of the victims. The mitigating circumstances were the defendant's advanced age and health problems.
The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
