Due to the worsening situation in the Middle East, citizens of Kazakhstan and their family members were evacuated from Lebanon, Informburo reports , citing the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“On the instructions of the president, and with the assistance of the relevant government agencies of Kazakhstan, citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan and their family members were evacuated from Lebanon,” the statement said .
The Kazakhs were transported via Istanbul and Dubai. From October 17 to 31, 41 people returned from Beirut to Astana and Almaty.
As a reminder, Israel invaded southern Lebanon on September 30, 2024, to destroy the weapons and infrastructure of the armed group and political party from southern Lebanon, Hezbollah. Earlier, the Israeli Air Force carried out a targeted strike on the central headquarters of Hezbollah, which was located underground under a residential building in the Dahiya district of Beirut. The strike killed the leader and one of the founders of the group, Hassan Nasrallah.
Hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah began after the Lebanese militant group began firing rockets into northern Israel and surrounding areas on October 8, 2023, in support of the Palestinians.
More than 3,600 buildings were damaged or destroyed in Lebanon between October 2 and 14, 2024.
