Kazakhstan has introduced a new type of visa, the Neo Nomad, for foreign tourists who combine travel and remote work. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
To obtain this visa, foreigners must prove income of at least $3,000 outside of Kazakhstan, as well as provide health insurance and a certificate of no criminal record. The new visa regime allows for up to one year of stay in the country while continuing to work for foreign companies. This will help foreigners get to know the culture of Kazakhstan without taking up jobs in the local market.
"As a result of the joint work of the ministries of tourism and sports, foreign affairs, internal affairs and other interested government agencies, Kazakhstan has now become part of the travel map for modern nomads. There are more than 35 million of them worldwide, and we want to create all the conditions to attract them to our country. Moreover, the cities of Almaty and Astana are already in the top 150 cities attractive to neo-nomads," said Minister of Tourism and Sports Erbol Myrzabosynov.
The economic effect of introducing the visa is expected to be about 3.6 billion tenge per year if 500 people receive the visa.
